If you publish a newsletter or ezine, you must have an effective strategy to
build your subscriber list fast. I'm sure that you already know that it's
difficult to promote your products and services if you don't have anyone to
promote to.
To achieve success, you need thousands of subscribers. Maybe more. You need a
large number of subscribers because only a small percentage of people will read
your ezine.
Realistically, if 20% of your subscribers read your ezine, you're doing great.
In other words, to get one thousand people to read your ezine, you will probably
need at least five thousand subscribers.
To get a large amount of subscribers fast, you have a few options. We will
review each option briefly.
# 1 Team Up With Other Ezine Owners: Whenever possible, it makes sense to form
joint ventures with other ezine publishers. Do an ezine search to find similar
ezines. Contact their publishers and offer to do an ad exchange. In other
words, you place an ad in your ezine promoting their ezine. And in return, they
do the same for you. Most publishers will accept the offer if you already have
a decent amount of subscribers.
# 2 Purchase Guaranteed Signups: This method is somewhat controversial, but I
find it the most effective. Here's how it works. You hire a "leads" company
to promote your ezine and get a certain amount of subscribers to OPT IN to your
mailing list.
The "leads" company do the advertising for you. On average, these leads usually
cost between fifty cents and one dollar each.
The advantage of this method is that you can get tons of subscribers fast. The
disadvantage is that not all of your lead will be targeted. Some will even be
bogus email accounts. Despite the disadvantages, I still find this option to
be the best and fastest way to get new subscribers.
# 3 Pay-Per-Click Advertising: If you have experience using PPC, you can
generate tons of traffic to your website. The secret to success is to pick
the right key words, to have effective "sales copy" on your website, and to
have a "good offer" to entice people to give you their contact information.
The disadvantage is the PPC can be quite expensive. For instance, if you are
paying ten cents per click and one out of ten visitors OPTS IN to your mailing
list, you will pay $1 per lead. That's good. But, if you're paying twenty
cents or more per click, it can get expensive fast.
# 4 Forums - Another option is to visit different forums and blogs. Many of
these sites will let you put a "signature block" with your responses. You
could provide a link to your website, hoping some of your visitors will join.
The advantage of this method is that it is free. The disadvantage is that
it's extremely time consuming and your not sure what type of results you will
get.
Other options include banner ads, link exchanges, video marketing, article
marketing and more.
In my opinion, the best strategy is to use guaranteed signups. The reason I
recommend guaranteed signups is because you get the most bang for your buck.
You can invest a few hundred bucks and get a few hundred subscribers, or more.
It's also an effective way to use your time while you test out other free
marketing strategies.
